old my sites

  Asked By: Marissa    Date: Feb 07    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 783

How do you all handle old my sites for old employees. We have a number of sites for former employees that we would like to delete. But I can't figure out how.

You can do it programmatically or manually.

if your click on the hyperlink of any username on the portal you are taken to the public view of his mysite.
replace the default.aspx of the url with _layouts/<lcid>/settings.aspx

there you have the option of deleting them.

programmatically you can get to the all the sites  under the virtual server using SPVirtualServer.Sites

iterate through the SiteCollection and check if the Site name is /personal/<nt login id>
if yes do site.Delete()

The easiest way to do this is to

Click on Site Settings on the portal
Click on Manage Profile Database
Click on View User Profile
Search for the user
Click on the drop down menu and select Manage Personal Site
Click on Goto Site Administation
Delete this site
