Office Search Crashing in MOSS

Asked By: Norma    Date: Dec 15    Category: MOSS    Views: 827

Anyone know why Office Search would be crashing on me?

Here is the error:

Event Type: Error

Event Source: Office SharePoint Server

Event Category: Office Server Shared Services

Event ID: 6482

Application Server Administration job failed for service instance
Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Administration.SearchServiceInstance
(b00ae5f2-fa17-4711-82c1-2bb2b40b9563).

Reason: Object 0bf2188b-928b-4bdf-9505-bb6cf0a0450f not found

How would I determine what that object is?

What do your trace logs say?

Is your index location excluded from your OS anti-virus?

SP2 on SQl Server?

Index location is probably not excluded from AV. I'll do that now.

SQL is at SP2.

So yeah, I'm not sure what I should be looking for in the trace log.

I did exclude the index directory in the virus scanner, so we'll see if
that helps.

Anything interesting about having SP2 on your SQL 2005 server?

Non SP2 had a bug that could trip up SharePoint. Here's an overview of
one symptom,
