Odd issue with Win2k and WSS2 and administrator permissions

I'm having an odd issue with one of our users. Most everyone in our org
in on XP, but a small handful are on Win2K. One of our Win2K users is
set up as a site admin. They can access the site and appear to be able
to add items and the like just fine, but when they go to modify a site
user's settings, they get re-prompted for their username/password and it
then refuses them access saying they don't have permissions.

Any idea what might be causing this? I'm not sure it's Win2k, but
another admin on the same site doesn't have this problem and she's using
XP.

Please check the IE settings for that machine.
In IE , Tools-->Internet Option-->security Tab.
in internet and intranet check the custom level User authentication,
select Automatic login with current Username

Turns out, this *isn't* a windows 2k issue. It's an issue with our sites
even on XP.

It appears that site administrators can not edit their site's user
information (typically to change the Display Name on the site). Anyone
know why this might be happening? (Using WSS2)
