Object Reference not set to an instance of an object error

We are currently running windows portal server 2003 and WSS 2.0. We had
an issue yesterday where a co-worker was trying to delete a document
from a site and received the following error: Object reference not set
to an instance of an object.

Does anyone know if there is a fix for this or how we can correct the
situation and get the file deleted.

In the cases I have seen this message, it has been a permission issue.
Check that the user has the correct permissions to the library, and that the
permissions are inheriting correctly.

She is an administrator of the site... even I who also have
administrative rights got the same message.

I spoke to soon, I was able to delete with administrative rights..
