NTLM vs. Kerberos authentication in SPS03/WSSV2

Asked By: Aurelio    Date: Nov 16    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1039

I suppose the best practice is to use Kerberos authentication, but how many of us are? If so, did anyone notice a marked improvement after the switch (if you applied Kerberos authentication after SP2)?

Any other observations on the subject are much-appreciated.

We all agree that Kerberos is a better answer – surprisingly for performance reasons as well as security reasons. I have a few clients that are using Kerberos because of cross-domain trust concerns, but by and large it’s not something that clients do because they still don’t have a firm grasp of public key infrastructure.
