I need help and I can't find the answer anywhere.

We are having a problem adding cross site groups to sites in sharePoint.

When a user tries to add a cross site group to a site they will get an
error message Request Timed out. This happens with any site under our
portal.

We are able to add individual users and AD groups to sites but NOT
cross site groups created within SharePoint.

There are no error messages appearing within the Event View on both the
SP Server or the SQL Server.

Has anyone ever had this problem? Can anyone offer some ideas?
