Not able to open alert mails

Asked By: Brain    Date: Dec 24    Category: MOSS    Views: 725

I am facing a problem opening the alert mails that I have subscribed.

When user's try to open the alert mail, Am thrown with the error "cannot open
this item"

Details on the softwares users use:

1. Subscribed to alert - any document library in MOSS 2007

2. Outlook in Office - 2007

Kindly help in attacking this. Is there any plugin or add-on required? Is it
that it is not getting compatible in Outlook 2007?

Any inputs or thoughts to this would be a great value.

Alerting option is quite straight forward in SharePoint 2007.

I have a different scenario, where in the content of the mail  use to be source
code.
That I found because I created list from list template
customized(newform.aspx, editform.aspx, displayform.aspx) in SPD.

I created a plain custom list to check the basic functionality of alerting, it
started working and I can see the mails  correct.

just try to check the functionality on a new list, and try to check with web
access of the MS Exchange.

There was a bug around this. Do you have the latest patches for MOSS
and Exchange? Initially it was fixed by an Exchange patch, but I think
a MOSS patch addressed it too. I don't have the KB number in front of
me, so you might have to do some searching.
