non-portal contents will not come in a search results?

Asked By: Chance    Date: Jun 02    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 604

I have a query that the default WSS search searches the entire WSS site. now
we have created 3-4 projects. which stores the information in separate
database. and the project is created at _layouts folder.

How do I add the myproject contents to default search results? I know As it
is the search facility searches only contents of portal like lists,
documents, links etc. but I want to search the contents of my project also.
i.e. I have lots of links stored in my separate database where my project
uses these links.

Windows SharePoint Services uses a full text index of the Windows SharePoint
Services database  to search  its contents. The search is primarily confined
to the scope of the current Site.

SharePoint Portal Server uses a search engine that crawls sites. It can
search Portal Areas, Windows SharePoint Services Sites in and out of its
Site Directories, and it can be configured to crawl any other internal or
external source as well.

Do you have SharePoint Portal Server? If so, check out search scopes.
