Non-existing sites and content appear in portal search results

Asked By: Camille    Date: Jul 04    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1519

Does anyone know why I keep getting long before (a month or so) deleted
sharepoint sites and it's content in SPS Portal searh results? Clicking the
result only opens a page informing that the page no longer existsin content
database...Something wrong with my indexing settings?
Newly created sites and conted also appear in search results so indexing is
working but for some reason this old site refuses to dissappear even though
the index is fully updated every night and I've also done full updates
manually from search settings.

Did you check if you still have entries of the deleted sites  in site
directory? SPS does not delete the entry from site  directory even if you delete
the site. index  would index all the entries in the site directory. Hence you
would see the deleted sites also in the search  results.
