All:I have created a top-level Sharepoint Portal website. Now I would like tocreate several sub-sites. When I click on the Sites tab and choose CreateSite, I see that my URL will be http://216.xxx.xxx.xxx/sites/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://216.xxx.xxx.xxx/sites/[MySiteName]I really don't want to have the "/sites/" directory, I would rather make theURL http://216.xxx.xxx.xxx/[MySiteName], but I cannot figure out if I canremove the "sites" directory. Is this possible?
As what I understand, you have to have a starting point. /Sites/ is one of the managed path that SP define as default. If you don't like the name "Sites" you can define your own name and direct all site creations to that

Go to Admin Site and look under Managed Paths
