Navigation in Areas - expandable tree view navigation?

Asked By: Zachariah Potter         Date: Aug 13, 2004      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 379

Several of our users have issues with the default SPS portal
navigation. Their concerns center around:
1) the inability to see "peer-level" areas and the need to jump up
to parent areas to just have to jump back down again.
2) lack of expandable "tree-style" navigation to be able to explore
the structure without having to visit each level to identify areas
below

I've seen some portals use javascript-based navigation menus to
replace the default portal nav and we've developed a cascading
horizontal nav that shows sub-areas off the top nav.

Do your users have the same issues and concerns?
What approaches have you taken to resolve?
Is there a simple way to make a minor mod to the SPS nav to show
peer areas?
