How about drag n drop into the web folder? I'm doing that from a win2k
box client w/sps v1 sp2 client just fine.

Is it just me or is there way TOO MANY document libraries in the new
version?

veryone complains to Microsoft that V1 only has one
document library  per workspace, and now that they stick 'em everywhere,
people complain again.

Personally, I like that I can create a "document library" just about
anywhere. I can attach it to my personal My Site page, create a
Document Workspace, add  a document library(ies) to a team page, etc.
Gives a lot of flexibility.

The only thing that gets confusing is Network Places might show seven
"Shared Folders on [server]" , but at least if you show details on the
left, it'll show you the URL for it.

I think for the most part, MS has done us a great service with the new
doc libs. Now if they could just let us map a drive to the web folder
without having to buy an add-on!

Are you using most of them though? I see the relevance of the document
library for the Main Portal, My Site and the various sites. I just can't
imagine using the ones for each category.

I guess my response to that would be - don't use them. I'm just playing
with V2 and I've let about 10 users know about it and have some
rights... just to get a following. However, I'm awfully tempted to
scrap V1 and put this beta V2 in production simply because it's more
stable than my production V1 server. Well, that, and the fact that V2
is what V1 should have been in terms of portal functionality.

We don't do too much document management other than very basic stuff, so
I guess I'm not very tuned to as many details as others might be.

Not sure what you mean by mapping a drive to the web folder but in V2.0
you can use the DAV redirector if you are running on Windows XP. For
example net use \\wss-server\site\doclib and then you get in place
editing of all file types - not just Office.
