Using multiple choice from lookup

Asked By: Travon    Date: Mar 27    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 2374

Has anyone out there come up with a clever way to allow multiple
selections from a lookup list item? Out of the box, the lookup list
item only allows single value selection. We want to use a list for
the lookup values rather than the choice because using choice will
require duplicate maintenance of values.

Lookup stores the ID associated with records in another list, choice
stores the text of the user's selection. Maintenance is totally
different for each of these options. I'm not aware of any option to
store multiple  choices from a lookup; in v3 you will be able to do this
by creating your own custom field type.

I just came back from the SharePoint DevConnections conference in
Orlando, and I think one of the things I remember hearing is that
SharePoint 2007 will allow multiple  selections in the lookup  list. Don't
quote me on that though, as I have a lot of information from the
conference rolling around in my head.
