How to have multiple announcement parts on the same page

Asked By: Jordan    Date: Aug 20    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 4339

I would like to have 2 separate (different) announcement parts on one
page: let's say one for general announcements and another for more
specific announcements. The idea would be that a different set of
users would subscribe to each part via the alerts mechanism.
I've just tried to do this by editing the page in WSS, but because
there is already one announcements part on the page, there isn't the
option to drag on another one.
Can this be done? Is this the right way of looking at the problem?

I suppose the question really applies to multiple copies of any web
part on a page...

Just create two separate  Announcements lists - you'll then get a Web
Part for each of them...

First, documents and lists, then select Create in the top left. Under
the Lists section, pick Announcements. Give it a name and description
different than the other Announcements web part  (the_other_one
perhaps?). Go back to your home page  and drag  it in as usual. All
done!
