We have a unique situation where we need to give outside users (vendors)
access to only the information that pertains to them. Internally we
have a document library that contains information from several
vendors. Instead of using item level security (which we could do, but
I don't think that's something that someone wants to set on 100,000
plus documents.) We have decided to give them their own little
playground on our MOSS site. The solution we came up with was to have
a workflow that monitored documents in one document library for
changes, and when a file was uploaded or updated that a column had a
specific piece of information (i.e. the Vendor's name), would copy the
document from that document library to another one. It is all in the
same site collection, but each is on a different subsite. I've tried
using SharePoint Designer, but it won't let me define a document
library that is not on the current site or subsite. Searching online,
I see where I can use VisualStudio to create the workflow, but nothing
on how to do it. Any help here would be fantastically appreciated.
