I've got a trickly issue with an SPS 2001 (SP1) portal involving
MSDAIPP.DSO.

I've got a web part that calls a method on a VB dll on the server.
The method creates an ADO connection to a workspace using MSDAIPP.DSO
and then opens a recordset on a folder in the workspace.

The call works fine when I'm using an account that has local admin
rights on the server, but dies when I use another account that just
has author rights on the workspace. My portal is set up to use
integrated authenication.

The really wierd thing is that this used to work fine, then one day
just stopped!!! I've tried to get a meaningful error message but the
best I've got is "Provider could not be found. It may not be properly
installed." and even that one doesn't happen consistently.

I read this on a post from mid last year:
"Is the OLEDB provider you mention "MSDAIPP.DSO"? The old COM based
which shipped with MDAC 2.7 supported authentication but the ExOLEDB
provider shipping with Exchange 2000 & Sharepoint Portal Server
doesn't."

The portal was originally installed with MDAC 2.7 but now has 2.7 SP1
installed (which I've reinstalled in a vain attempt to fix the
problem).

Does anyone have any more information/e
