I had edited htmltraninfo.xml so that my users were not prompted for
credentials when opening up Office documents ....

Then when they received this latest patch ... MS06-040 ... or KB921883
, they started receiving prompts again .. interesting enough for only
excel and powerpoint documents (word documents did not give a prompt)

I didn’t know you could edit the xml  file for that, but its interesting…

Seems like I only get warned: some files can harm your computer, yada yada..

And having the site in trusted sites and your local xp account setup right
is enough to stave it off.

Maybe the security updates overwrite a lot of prefs that get

applied and that one must have been powerpoint  and excel specific.

Still waiting for wss3 before I delve into more complications.

I’m bothered by all of the nuances of asp.net 2.0 webparts and wss3 webparts

And SQL 2005 and SP Designer and VS 2005 and all the various

Scenarios associated with it all. When’s the rubber gonna hit the road?
