What MS Visual Studio suits MOSS 2007 webpart develoment

Asked By: Bryson    Date: Oct 03    Category: MOSS    Views: 813

What Visual Studio will be the best for MOSS 2007 custom development including
ASP web pages, Web parts, web services, etc.?

I apologize if this question sounds too rudenmentary. But the last time I
touched SharePoint was more than a year ago on Portal 2003, and Visual Studio
.NET 2003 was still the one. The current version is Visual Studio 2005 and 2008
is under development. I have been more than 1 year behind -:(.

I bet Visual Studio 2005 is the right one. But will I be able to use Studio .NET
2003 to develop custom web parts for MOSS 2007?

You will need VS 2005, as VS 2003 cannot (not sure if it not easily or
not at all?)do the ASP.Net 2.0/3.0 operations needed to build web part
for MOSS.

You can do it on VS 2003, but its definitely not easy. Use VS 2005.
However, I don't think you can use the Express Versions. I think you
need at least Standard.
