MS Access and SharePoint Large List

Asked By: Ravi Ponarkaar         Date: Oct 13, 2008      Category: MOSS      Views: 504

I have site that has 2 lists: Projects and Tasks. The Project has 85
items and the Tasks has 4,000 items. Using MS Access, I have been able
to create a report, but it only works in the morning. In the afternoon
I cannot connect to the Task list. This is the error that I get:

The Microsoft Office Access database engine could not find the
object 'Tasks'. Make sure the object exists and that you spell its
name and the path name correctly.

Could it be due to the size of the list? By why would it work in the
morning and not in the afternoon? Should I try using Access 2003? I
have found the KB:926526, but haven't had any luck there.

Lists over 2000 items will start to degrade performance-wise, so that
coupled with (I assume) higher user load in the afternoon might be
making the request time out.
