Moving a WSS 3.0 site collection to MOSS 2007

Asked By: Rachelle    Date: Sep 17    Category: MOSS    Views: 2065

I have a WSS 3.0 site collection that may need to be incorporated in a
MOSS portal.
Is there an easy way to do this?
If so, how?
My first thought would be to do an stsadm backup and restore to the
MOSS server, but I am not sure if that would work.
What would be the ramifications of doing that?

From what I understand that will work going from WSS to MOSS, but not the other
way. I'd try it in a VM first, but it should be fine.

This works just fine. I've done this a couple of times. Just create an
stsadm backup of your site  collection. Then, in MOSS, create a new
webapp and sitecollection and restore the backup to the new location.
