Moving subsites from MOSS Enterprise to MOSS Standard

We are in the process of decommissioning a MOSS Enterprise farm and moving
some of its subsites to a MOSS Standard farm. I tried doing backup from the
MOSS/E and restore to MOSS/S with SharePoint Designer; I received the
message that the import couldn't be completed because the Feature
"BizAppsListTemplates" could not be found. The missing feature is part of
the Enterprise Site Features, according to Eric Kraus

After some research, I discovered that all features on the backup server
have to be present on the restore server, even if they are not employed in
the site:

[This report uses stsadm export/import rather than SPD backup/restore, but
the error is the same.]

My question is, how can I complete the migration of sites from the MOSS/E
server to the MOSS/S server? Can I remove the Enterprise features from the
MOSS/E server (I don't believe they are in use anywhere)? Can I alter the
".cmp" files after the fact to remove the references to unused features?

The one thing I _can't_ do is upgrade the MOSS/S to MOSS/E -- that's an
expensive proposition.
