Moving documents from MOSS 2007 site to another site in other server

Asked By: Johanna Byrd         Date: Jul 22, 2007      Category: MOSS      Views: 359

We have a requirement where in "Document needs to be copied / moved"
to other Site that resides in another sharepoint farm through workflow
(For Ex: When Status Changed from "Reviewed" to "Approved", document
needs to be copied / moved).

I'm sure Out-of-the box workflow is not available for this
functionality.

Can it be done by using SharePoint designer? If not, How do we acheive
this?

Workflow in spd will indeed do this

Are you sure? Our testing with SPD workflows (admittedly in beta
versions some time ago) found that you were confined to the current
site, and couldn't even move the document to another site  in the
same site collection, let alone another farm.

You're quite right - SPD will definitely not do this - it will only do
it within the same site

So, If SPD is not capable of doing this, what would be the solution
for this?

Out of the box functionality is not available so I guess you can code a
workflow yourself in VS2005 or you can buy a workflow engine from
someone like k2.net

Visit this site
www.sharepoint360.com and click in downloads.

We will have the copy and paste functionality for WSS feature soon.
