Moving Databases

Asked By: Sansuma    Date: Aug 14    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 728

Currently I have SPS and SQL running on the same server. I need to move the
databases to another server that is dedicated for SQL only.

I was thinking of generating a SQL script for the 4 databases. Back up the 4
databases. Run the SQL scripts of the 4 databases on the new server. Then doing
a restore of the 4 databases. Then go into SPS and point to the new server. Will
this work?

If the procedures above is not correct, can somebody please tell me the correct
procedures on how I can do this?

This will work well , I have done this without script, just move  and attach
database and then refer the sharepoint to the new SQL server.
