Move Location of MySites?

Asked By: Alyssa    Date: Feb 27    Category: MOSS    Views: 698

We're having all kinds of issues with our F5 server + SharePoint 2007.
When we moved our portal over to port 80, all was good.

NOW I want to move the location of MySites from http://serverName:30100
to http://serverName/MySites.

That is, we want to move it to a subdirectory of our portal on port 80.

1. I don't know how to do this - your advice is greatly appreciated.
2. It is NOT a requirement to preserve the existing MySites that users
have created - there are only a handful of them.

I don't think this question has anything to do with the F5 box, not sure
why you mentioned it.

To have your Mysites at http://serverNameMySites you need to configure
that in your Shared Service Provider under My Site Settings > Personal
Site Location. You'll probably also need to move  your Personal Site
Services site to that same web app. You'll have to manually create it
and use the MySite Host site template. After you make those changes all
new MySites will go in the new spot. Old MySites will stay where they
are. Sounds like you're okay with recreating them, so you can just
delete them.
