MOSS Setup Problems: Cannot Connect to the Configuration Database

Asked By: Norma    Date: Mar 08    Category: MOSS    Views: 1339

I'm new at MOSS - Trying to configure the Shared Services Provider and getting
these errors:

On "Manage This Farm's shared Services:" SharedServices1(default) Provisioning
failed: The SELECT permission was denied on the object 'sysusers', database
'mssqlsystemresource', schema 'sys'.)

On the "Sharepoint - 1111"(administration site host) Cannot connect to the
configuration database.

Have a Farm Using Windows 2008 Server on 1 box & SQL 2005 on another box. My
server guy set up the servers and initially installed MOSS. He gave it to me to
finish configuring.

In SQL I see these tables set up:
SharedServices1_DB
Sharepoint_AdminContent(GUID#)
Sharepoint_Config
WSS_Content
WSS_Content(GUID#)
WSS_Search_Sharepoint

In Sharepoint_Config SQL table - A Domain Admin (over both boxes) is set up as a
User -- That's the only place where the domain admin is listed. Should it be
a user under the SharedServices1_DB? Or any of the others?

To configure MOSS I am following these:
www.datasprings.com/.../OverviewonInstallingSha\
repoint2007/tabid/774/language/en-US/Default.aspx

And
www.pptspaces.com/.../Post.aspx?ID=28

Is this a permissions problem with the SQL database? When the services were set
up I used a user that has domain access over SQL & Sharepoint.
