What's the story on installing this over/in place of Beta 2 TR?

Answer #2    Answered By: Alisha Holmes     Answered On: May 23

I haven't actually done it, but you should just be able to install over top of a
B2TR installation.

Whatever they call it, I am downloading it now and following the Microsoft TechNet guide to upgrading the server. I find it funny that its called an upgrade but yet you have to un-install the beta before installing the new one. I will post any problems that I come acrross during setup and testing.

So it looks like maybe that when I renamed my dsn key to DSN2 it did not save properly and this is the reason I can't start the service. I was going off of the following article: technet2.microsoft.com/.../...10bb80449881033.mspx When I first looked at the page it was MUCH smaller and they must have updated the article while I was performing the upgrade. There are many more steps now and a note that says:

Be sure to check that you have renamed the registry key to dsn2. If you fail to perform this step, upgrade will fail and you will have to manually upgrade the content databases to a new installation. This step is required for the installation process to detect and upgrade Beta 2 Technical Refresh to the release version.

So maybe I will have to wipe the server or delete the content databases and re-create. Any suggestions from someone who may have screwed up like I did?
