I was trying to extend a default zone web application with a different
name. However, when I was in the page, I could only select Internet or
Custom zones. I believe this may due to I had AAM entered before.

However, even I deleted AAM entries andreset IIS, I could not get
other zones back. I did not have problems if I created a new web
application and extended the new one.
