MOSS Backup Hangs

Anyone else having this problem? Ever since this weekend, our backup
is not running properly. I don't know if it is DST related or if it's
something else. Basically the job never shows up as running in the job
status page and then several hours later it finally writes out the
backup files with an error in backing up the Shared Services Index.

I am having this problem  as well. I think it is something about the
DST. Anyone out there has any fix?

DST did affect backups, but it was only during the last three weeks of March.
Once the first Sunday of April arrived, those problems went away. Also, since
it was an issue with the SharePoint Timer Service, it only affected backups
initiated with STSADM or in Central Admin. You could use STSADM -o
execadmsvcjobs to kick start a job  that isn't going.
