MOSS Alert and AssignTo Email Problem

On our MOSS server I can create an alert and I get an email that the
alert has been successfully created but I don't get any more emails
either when an item has changed or when a task has been assigned to
me. Any ieas?

This is the default behavior of the task  list. Edit the settings of the task
list.

The default setting is "No" – or do not send email  when the task is assigned.
