MOSS 2010 - Dirty Word Filter, Reporting Abuse

Asked By: Dominique    Date: Jan 04    Category: MOSS    Views: 1304

We are evaluating MOSS 2010 to possibly use for an external blog and
discussion board. I have been trying to find a dirty word filter or a way to
report abuse for blogs in discussion boards either in the OOTB MOSS product but
I cannot seem to find anything. Does MOSS 2010 have this capability OOTB? If
not, do you know of a 3rd party tool that I may be able to use with MOSS 2010?

A search for "sharepoint profanity filter" turns up quite a few free and
commercial third-party products.

Beyond that, it seems you could attach a workflow to any list or content
type which would analyze the content and then take appropriate action.

You could also set up search alerts for particular offensive words. That might
not be immediate enough though.

What do think of Microsoft Forefront for filtering offensive words? Does
Forefront only track files? Would Forefront filter out offensive words in blogs
and discussion boards?

From my limited study, Forefront appears to be concerned only with the files
that pass between the client and the server. Of course there may be a
simple way to point it toward list items, but I don't know if it would
attach itself to the proper events or just scan at a scheduled time.
