MOSS 2007 - teamplate with personal contact data - how to modify?

Asked By: Naman    Date: Jul 12    Category: MOSS    Views: 734

I've import people from Active Directory and when I use search for
people I have all info from AD .
But I want to customize this page (for example add logo , remove
member web part and so on) How can I do it? I don't want to modify
every page was showing.

What I can modify?

I found below description on msd2d description for 2003 .Question it
is works on 2007?

"The My site is a personal  site for a user that is created on demand
based on an existing template that comes with Sharepoint. I had many
clients ask me to change the template of the my site to either include
or exclude some structure or webparts. You might think this is hard to
do . . . not really! You just need to get the desired file on
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server
Extensions\60\TEMPLATE\2070\SPSMSITE(default.aspx or public.aspx for
private or public views respectively) and change them using Frontpage
2003. All changes will be reflected on new and existing My sites.
Note: First of all backup the original files to be changed, you never
know when you will need to recover from mistakes. Probably you'll need
to perform an IISRESET".

FrontPage has become SharePoint Designer and it is definitely NOT the
tool to use to edit the text files in the 12 Hive. You'll want to invest
in an ASP.NET developer that understands Master Pages and server

But I cannot pay for ASp.NET developer because our firm is not very big and
IT cost is cutting low.
Could you tell me what can I must read about master page?
Or show me the other way to modify  my site public template.

If I understand you correctly you really asking the following:

1) How to delete web parts form users MySites?
-2003: As Admin you can easily add and delete web parts for all users
by adding/deleting Web Parts to your MySite so that they are added to
all user's MySites.
-2007: Good question...I'd like to know this too since I know it has
changed from how you do it in 2003. I would assume that you can edit
the default.aspx and public.aspx pages, but I'm not sure since I
haven't tried that. A while back I believe I tired to change the
onet.xml in the MySite site def, but that only affected new MySits
that got created after the change.

2) How do you customize the UI for MySites?
-2003: Via Site Defs (preferred) or Front Page (:().
-2007: Via editing the Master Page. Master Pages can be tricky!
Definitely do not directly open any files on the server using
SPD..you will just end up breaking them. Master Pages should only be
opened by SPD by providing the site url in the SPD open site dialog.
Ideally you would want to edit your master page using Visual Studio
2005. http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/4xh7yfby(VS.80).aspx
Good luck...I'm still trying to "Master" this one too.
