MOSS 2007 & SSRS Integration (License Stand-point)

Asked By: Roxana    Date: Oct 05    Category: MOSS    Views: 1375

OK this is a license type question really... I want to setup a MOSS 2007 site. Just a small setup, a SQL 2K8 & MOSS 2K7 (so 2 servers). Now I want to have SSRS integrated into MOSS. Do I need to install SSRS on the same server as MOSS or can it be installed on the SQL Side. Then if installed on the MOSS Server will I need another SQL License so it can be installed on the MOSS server... Then if SSRS is installed ont he SQL Server will I need MOSS installed on the SQL server or Will WSS 3.0 work or what?

You will need a separate license  if you install on the MOSS server. However, I would recommend you do that so you do not expose the SQL Server to IIS.

SSRS requires an IIS web application to run under even if integrated with SharePoint.
