MOSS 2007 - Select People WebPage Dialog box queries extremely slowly

Just recently the MOSS 2007 People Picker (Select People Webpage Dialog)
returns queries extremely slowly. It can take 4 to 5 minutes for the dialog
window to return a person. I only have 584 profiles in my environment. Has
anyone run into this? I am at a complete loss as to why all of sudden it would
be running so slowly. My search crawls are running and returning results. My
Profile service is running and I can see the user profiles. I appreciate any
suggestions.
