I am 5 minutes into exploring SharePoint and I have hit a roadblock.Searching has turned up nothing but unanswered threads. My server is adomain member, all 64 bit. All on one computer although I did use thecustom setup. The problem is trying to configure "Office SharePoint Server Search" to getit running. I get a similar 'Search' error trying to configure "WindowsSharePoint Services Search" all on the 'Services on Server' web page."An unhandled exception occurred in the user interface. ExceptionInformation: OSearch (login name)"and "SPSearch (login name)"These errors seem to revolve around login names. Of course I have triedseveral. Maybe a permissions problem? Is there some place where these errors are documented so I don't have tobother people for an answer?
I have seen that error before if you just put in the user name instead of usingthis format Domain/Username hope this helps
As you can well imagine, faced with this error, I have tried everypossibility, and combination, I can think of. With domain and without.Unfortunately, still the same error.
i have 64 bit operating system. so i faced same problem in searching of pdffiles at that time i installed pdf files ifilter rather than another 64 bitadobe filter now it is working fine. Still some times i am facing a problemwith search services like automatically stoped the services. if you findany resolution please let me know
As I mentioned in my original post, I have searched everywhere for someanswers and all I have been able to find is unanswered threads of peoplewith similar errors. And like you, the threads all end with, "if you findthe answer please post it".An unhandled exception occurred in the user interface. ExceptionInformation: OSearch (login name)I have to try something so I am about to start clean again and use twoserver boxes and separate the SQL server from SharePoint and see what effectthat has.
