I would like some opinions on how to "correctly" configure MOSS 2007
search content sources for very large file stores, WSS v2 sites and
various intranet web sites.
Scenario shown below indicate sizes of indexable content e.g. word,
excel, ppt, pdf files etc
Projects File Server 1 - \\projects01 – 500GB
Projects File Server 2 - \\projects02 – 300GB
Projects File Server 3 - \\projects03 – 200GB
Projects File Server 4 - \\projects04 – 200GB
Department File Server - \\departments – 200GB
40 WSS Sites – http://wss – 10GB
30 "Static" Intranet sites – http://intranet – 1GB
How would you set up content sources based on the information above?
Would the following make sense?
Documents Content Source
\\projects01
\\projects02
\\projects03
\\projects04
\\departments
Intranet Content Source
http://intranet/site1
http://intranet/site2 ..... site30
WSS Content Source
http://wss/site1
http://wss/site2 ... site40
Is there a limit to how many documents can reside in one content
source, i.e. the Documents Content Source index would probably end up
being around 1.4TB….. with around 3 million documents...
Is this OK or should i create four seperate content sources for the
five file servers?
How will this all impact performance etc?
