Modify Announcements and News path statements

I'm currently deploying SharePoint eval into my organisation, and want to
display the News and Announcements webparts on several different
dashboards/sub dashboards. To do this, I need to modify the path statement
that the VBScript in the webpart refers to (generally being
http://<server>/<workspace>/Portal Content/Announcements/ (or /News/)).
However, for whatever reason it does not work. I've created subdirectories
underneath these folders (eg. News/OtherNews/) which the script needs to
reference.
