We are trying to set up a SharePoint site that will mimic an existing
external web site. The site has public areas and secured areas (requiring a
login/password). We'd also like to add personalization to the site so that
once someone does log in, they no longer get the public version of the site,
but a version that gives them access to everything based on the group they
belong to.

I've experimented with making the default site anonymous, but that becomes
an issue when someone who wants to log in and make changes - they really
don't have a place to "Log In".

Any ideas on this? I would like to make the entire default site anonymous,
and provide a"Log In" link that would ask for their windows authentication.
Once they have been verified, they would essentially "switch" to the secure
site and see all the links they have access to.
