Missing Links Web Part

Asked By: Darci    Date: Oct 27    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 2180

I have a small SPS3 site (not moss) with the default Team Site that
works fine. There are several links defined in the Links Web Part and a
user with contributor permissions cannot see them. All other users can.
She was able to see them up until she clicked on Modify Shared Web Part.
She went in there to look around but didn't change anything. Once she
closed it, it disappeared for her.

Has anyone seen this before and know a solution or even where to begin
troubleshooting this?

The web  part itself disappeared, or the contents?

Just a guess but:

When she modified the shared web  part, the page got checked out. She
might have clicked  the X on the web part, which closed it but didn't
delete it.

Because the page is still checked out, nobody else can see her
changes so they still see the web part.

She should discard the page checkout. Or she could also find the web
part in the closed web parts collection and drag it back onto the
page and then check the page back in.

Our users  do this quite often.

It's possible that the user "personalized the page". See if that person
can click the "Welcome username" link at the top of the site, and click
"Reset Page Content"
