Migrating SPS2001 to SPS2003

Asked By: Karen    Date: Feb 18    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 600

I want to migrate sps2001 workspace to sps2003 portal site using
upgrade.exe.

I followed these 6 procedures provided by microsoft whitepaper:

1. Back up the SharePoint Portal Server 2001 data.(sucessfully done)
2. Export the SharePoint Portal Server 2001 configuration
information.(sucessfully done)
3. Upgrade Windows 2000 Server to Windows Server 2003.(sucessfully
done)
4. Upgrade the SharePoint Portal Server 2001 document store to the
SharePoint Portal Server 2003 backward-compatible document store.
(always failed on 4th step).

after I inserted sps2003 cd, run install server and client
components for backward-compatible document libraries. after
installation stopped some services and when the process was at
installing sharepoint portal server document library component, I
got error message:

Error Message: A fatal setup error has occurred. For details see

<C:\Program Files\Microsoft Integration\Microsoft Office SharePoint
Portal

Server 2003 Doc Library\Logs\errorlog.txt>.

For Document library backup u have to use STSIN and STSOUT command because for lower version compatibility this is useful it will take all the parameter fro mprevious doc lib.
then only it will upolad to SPS 2003.
i tried this upgradation on server  but it's gives lots of problem
so it is better to manually take the backup of all doc library and again restore on sps2003.

I am trying to use spout and spin. I have another problems which I have announcement web part on sps2001  website home page. How can I still have it on my sps2003  website homepage. We also have .netwire news headline web part on sps2001 site. I imported .netwire news headline web part file into sps2003 site, but it is not recognized and it is not displayed on homepage. Do you know anything about it?
