I used SMIGRATE to export all my STSV1 sites  to WSSV2 last

Was the error on the export from STSV1, or on import
into WSSV2?

Also, make sure you have the Office updates listed in the following
article & that you have the latest SMIGRATE download from MS,

I tried running the SMIGRATE from the 2003 server
command line, and pointed it to the 2001 server  as the source, 2003 server
as the destination.

Any luck on this? smigrate  is a two-step process. The way smigrate
works (export) is to point it to a URL & it creates a .FWP file in
the destination path you specify. Then, when you run  a smigrate
(import), you point it to the FWP file and the destination URL. I
was just wondering if it failed on the export piece or the import.

I haven't gotten back to this yet to try it, but can see from your
explanation that I wasn't doing it right. I was attempting to put in a
source and destination URL and copy  the site directly to the new server. I'm
looking at the command help, and cannot figure out where I got the idea that
this would ever work.

Smigrate: Backs up or restores a SharePoint Web site.

Usage (backup): smigrate  -w <website URL> -f <backup file> [-e] [-y]

Usage (restore): smigrate -r -w <website URL> -f <backup file> [-x]
