Migrating databases from one SQL server to a new SQL Server

Asked By: Aiesha    Date: Dec 19    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 8613

We have a test database that we are using with our MOSS 2007 WFE server. We
need to move the databases from the test server to the production server. Here
the steps that I have done so far:1) Backed up all of the databases used by MOSS
on Old_Server2) Turned off the search services, IIS service, and timer service3)
Restored all of the databases useby by MOSS on New_Server4) Ran the stsadmin
tool using the following command:
stsadm.exe -o setconfigdb -connect -ds New_Server -dn ConfigDB -farmuser
farmuseraccount -farmpassword farmpassword
The operation completed successfully.
5) Then I ran the Sharepoint Products and Configuration wizard and ensured that
it was pointing to the New_Server. It also completed successfully.
Here is my problem... I open the Central Administration page and the topology
still shows the Old_Server not the new server. I am not sure what else to do to
get MOSS to point to the new database server.

Did you also move the admin_content DB? I think that's what is causing this to
occur.

You could just backup and restore content database  and recreate SSP
and seaching with the new URL.
