Microsoft Project

Asked By: Janet    Date: Feb 25    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 826

Has anybody worked with MS Project files on SPS?
I have the client installed on our workstations, it works perfectly from Word,
Excel, PowerPoint, etc, but it does not work with MS Project.

Is this a bug in the client or in MS Project?

what do you want to do with this.
Creating of planning information or something else.

Shared planner information can be set up with MS Project Central.

I want to save projects on sps, check it out and back in again, but the client
didn't add check-out, check-in and publish in MS Project.

Just some advice: do not install MS Project 2002 server on your SPS box:
doing so will render Sharepoint inoperable. You can install MS Project 2002
in a separate box and then later integrate the two servers: Microsoft folks
are pushing exactly this scenario, for publishing Project schedules, doing
announcements or notifications, and so on.

I have the scenario set up with both Project 2002 and SharePoint on the
same server. You just have to make sure that you install Project before
SharePoint and do not install SharePoint Team Services that comes with
Project. Other than that, it works  fine.

I guess that's where I went wrong! I installed  Project 2002 on top of
Sharepoint. That's good to know.
