Microsoft Access databases--SharePoint seems to ignore changes

Asked By: Mariah    Date: Sep 13    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 2447

I have updated Excel worksheet files on SharePoint and saved the
changes successfully many times. SharePoint shows the date I last saved
the worksheet, and when I go back into the worksheet file the changes
are reflected. However, SharePoint doesn't seem to save any changes I
make to an Access database file (.mdb) stored in a SharePoint folder.
Does anybody know how to get Sharepoint to save Access database

Can't help, but last time I read the docs, mdbs were not supported in
sharepoint folders.

I was beginning to think that was the case.
At first, I couldn't even upload a .mdb Access database file  to a
SharePoint folder, but an IT person in our office removed the .mdb
from the file exclusion list in SharePoint. As a result, I
successfully uploaded my Access database  to the SharePoint folder  so
I thought I was okay. But then, after giving database training to
staff in another division, I discovered it wouldn't save  changes so I
read a book on SharePoint to learn about more of its features, trying
to get some hints. The book even addressed importing and exporting
Microsoft Access lists, but it didn't address actual .mdb files  on
SharePoint folders so that's when I decided to send my message to the
user group.

You can also upload .mdb access  file on to sharepoint  but you need
to do some changes on SharePoint Central Administration(Not

1)Open SharePoint Central Administration
2)Click on SharePoint Portal Server
3)Under Security Configuration, click on Manage Block file  types
4) Remove .mdb file and click on Ok
5) Now you should be able to upload
