Memory usage on SPS2003

Asked By: Ernest    Date: Dec 19    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 995

Have anyone check through the memory usage on the SQL database that serving SPS2003?

I have 1 server (Processor P4 2.8GHz and RAM 1.5GB) which has both SPS2003 and MSSQL installed in it. I have been using the SPS2003 for around 6 months. Lately I found that the response time of the server is running slower. So I check through the memory usage and found that

1. The MSSQL is occupying up to 800K of memory. (in attachment)

2. The PF usage has already hitting 1.5GB. (in attachment)

3. I check another server which only running MSSQL without SPS2003 install. I found that the MSSQL is only occupying 40K of memory.

This is my question,

1. I’m not sure if this is the normal behavior of any machine that running SPS2003. i.e. SPS2003 / MSSQL will try to utilize all the available memory.

2. Is there any suggested architecture on running SPS2003. i.e. SPS2003 and MSSQL cannot co exist in 1 physical server box.

3. Does anyone encounter similar problem before?
