Master Page and Page Layout link broken?

Asked By: Srikant    Date: Mar 22    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 4367

I have a problem with SharePoint 2007 Beta 2 TR that I've not
encountered before.

I have created a Master Page and Page Layout in SharePoint Designer
Beta 2 TR and used them within our SharePoint site. If I navigate to
a page that uses these from with the Site Settings area of the site I
can see the page with no problem. However, if I navigate to the page
that uses these from a new browser window I get a blank page. When
viewing source on the blank page it is apparent that the Master Page
has been used to construct the layout but the content isn't being
pulled in.

I suspect that there is an issue with the link between the Master
Page, Page Layout and Content Type for the following reason:

In SharePoint Designer if I click on Page Fields in the Server
Controls section of the toolbox I get the following error:

soap:ServerThe associated content type
278EE81100C30B3ED219B6804E84680DDC73A87DC3, name=Standard Content)
for page layout http://eng-
mnpadev01:4000/_catalogs/masterpage/StandardContent.aspx does not
exist. Edit the property of the page layout and change the content
type to a valid value.

Has anyone encountered this before?

I've checked IIS server extensions on the Web Front End, and checked
all of the properties on the Master Page and Page Layout.

Any chance the “Standard Content” content type was deleted? Have you verified that the file specified here (http://eng-
mnpadev01:4000/_catalogs/masterpage/StandardContent.aspx) exists?
