Mass change e-mail addresses in SharePoint

  Asked By: Karissa    Date: Nov 12    Category: MOSS    Views: 1112

Is there a quick way of changing e-mail addresses in SharePoint? Our company
got acquired, so our e-mail addresses are no longer going to the same domain.
We used a Quest tool to do the actual AD domain changes, but it seems like the
tool didn't change the e-mail, so we still need a way to change @address1.com to
@address2.com.

Have you done a FULL import? SharePoint imports from active directory
as domain\username but if the domain  changed then the users will not
be the same. username1 was oldDomain\username1 and now it is
newDomain\username1.

Does WSS do profile imports? I thought that was only MOSS.

WSS sets up a user record when a user is added to SharePoint. This is used in
place of a Profile for WSS. There is no ongoing import of this information.
MOSS also uses this information. There is a timer job that replicates
information found in the Profile to the Users table. The users table is then
used for things like the Welcome name or email addresses.

Should I modify this table? Seems like everything I read says bad things happen
when you modify the DB directly.
