How many ways can you use CEWP?

Asked By: Grace    Date: Mar 31    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 2433

I have already used Subwebs on the Quick Launch web part
and some security trim code from a class I attended, but
I want to do more.

Can I change the home icon using a CEWP (want to switch it from
using /_layouts/images/home.gif to a picture I have saved in an
picture libary)? Also, can I remove the labels/links for everything
*but* "Subwebs" on the Quick Launch (I have no Pictures, Lists,
Surveys, etc., to display, so why confuse folks w/ those labels)?

I'm not a developer, and I don't have access to modify site
definitions or the css. I love CEWP because it empowers me, but
again...since I'm not a developer, I need to "borrow" code from others
who are smarter than I! ;)

Please let me know what cool stuff you guys have used CEWP for and if
you are willing/able to share your code.

I have a ton of code  samples here:

It isn't difficult to change  the image for the home  icon. Just get a
handle to the IMG tag and change the SRC property.

You can modify  the css  for your page still. Just write a <style type="text/css"></style> that utilizes the class  calls in the page(s) you want to use (find them via "View Source" in Internet Explorer). Since it is the last CSS script the browser finds, it overlaps existing styles defined.
