Many SQL Server Processes

Asked By: Jarrod    Date: Mar 21    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1043

A few times now, we have experienced situations where SharePoint starts
to hog all of the SQL Server processes.

Today, all applications running on our SQL Server started bogging down
considerably, so we took a look at the open processes. We discovered
that the following databases had multiple processes running:

- config database - 12 open processes
- _prof database - 4
- _serv database - 35
- _site database - 22

What could be causing all of the processes to remain open, and how would
I go about closing them out?

This is not unusual, basically a process (connection) is created for
each user and cache in a pool. The process _SERV are generated by the
search engine
