Many to many relationship in two sharepoint task lists

I had a question from a user earlier this morning about having a many to
many relationship reference between two lists. They currently have one
or more Return code numbers relating to one or more credit memo
numbers. Is this possible with a SharePoint list OOB or will this
require custom code? Is this even possible in SharePoint ?
