Managing a single document in multiple lists

Asked By: Sarojini    Date: Jan 10    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1162

I would like your opinions on what would be the best way to manage a single document that would be in multiple document lists? We would like to be able to update the document in one list but that the change be reflected to the other lists, so that we do not have to go and update the same document in all different lists...

What would be the best way to achieve this?

Possible if you have a single  Doc Lib containing the document  and otherwise in other locations (preferably in the same site collection) use a Data View Web Part (part of SPD 2007) nowadays called officially a Data Form Web Part.

(The alternative of a Content Query Web Part is only available with MOSS so your "by the way" comment was necessary info !)

P.S. There is nothing particularly ECM about this so I'd suggest a normal SP forum such as Admin next time.

- only sends the latest version (minor or major)
- metadata (content types) are not transferred
